Eric Jacobs remains one of the most knowledgeable Llewellin setter devotees in this country.  When there were grouse in his mountain coverts near Pippa Passes, Kentucky, Eric hunted virtually every day of the season.  His setter Bull was the equal of Bob Thompson's Willie as a bird finder and in terms of range as well, a dog that few other men would have found useful in the grouse woods.  But Eric was as tough as his dog and seemed to almost run through the woods, honing in on Bull's beeper no matter how far away it toned.  Eric was also responsible for introducing me to the Peruvian horse through a mare he bought in North Carolina and sold to my friend Carolyn Tripp.  At this writing, "Melena" still grazes the fields of Farshadow Farms.
